Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) for Dancers

Dance Nut IntroTM Program

What is a Dance Nut IntroTM class and is it different from a regular class?

A Dance Nut IntroTM class is a free class that offers a good introduction to the services of the teacher or studio offering it.

Most of the time these free introductory classes will be exactly the same as if you paid full price.

There may be some exceptions. For example, an introductory private dance lesson might include slightly less dancing and slightly more talking than a regular private lesson in order to give you a full introduction to the studio and its programs. Of course, this will be true whether you pay for the introductory private lesson or not, so why not take it for free?

Can I bring a guest?

You bet! We want to encourage you to try something new, and bringing along a friend or spouse can sometimes help.

A small number of classes might not allow a guest. This might occur, for example, if a fitness class requires a piece of specialized equipment and only one student can be accommodated at a time. If this is the case, the restriction will be stated in the Special Requirements section of the voucher.

Why are these classes free?

Because that's the best way to try something new! Our program is perfect if you want to take new dance or fitness classes and would like to "try before you buy".

There is no obligation to buy classes from participating service providers. If you choose to buy classes after taking your free intro, you will receive a $10 Dance Nut discount as a thank-you!

We partner with high-quality dance and fitness service providers who are looking to introduce their offerings to new students and who are confident that many will become repeat customers. We hope you will be one of them!

How much do regular classes cost?

Class prices vary. Most one-time group classes cost between $10-$20 per person. Most one-time private lessons cost between $70-$100 per person.

Regular class prices are always visible on the class listings.

Why is this program awesome?

Here's why you'll love the Dance Nut IntroTM program:

  • Try as many free intro classes as you like (limit one per service provider)
  • Take group classes, private lessons or both
  • Receive a $10 discount towards a class purchase with each provider
  • Bring a friend or spouse along for free, too!

How do I sign up for the program?

If you don't yet have a dancer account, start here.

If you already have a dancer account, log in and click the yellow button at the bottom of your profile page. If the button is green, you're already signed up!

How do I claim and use vouchers?

step one

Use our search page to find a class you like

step two

Click the green "Claim a voucher" button on the class details page

step three

Print the voucher and bring it to the class

It's that easy!

You may claim one voucher at a time. When you are ready to claim another voucher, go to your profile page to close the previous voucher by selecting the appropriate status (redeemed, expired or cancelled) and clicking "Update Status". Then go claim your next voucher!

You may claim a voucher as often as once per day. You may redeem or cancel a voucher any time before it expires (30 days from the date claimed). If a voucher expires unused you must pay a $5 fee if you wish to claim more vouchers. You may redeem a voucher with each provider at most once per year.

How does the class discount work?

Each voucher entitles you to a $10 discount towards the purchase of $50 or more worth of classes with the service provider. And you can receive this $10 discount every time you buy a package of classes from another participating provider!

You purchase classes directly from the provider. They will provide the $10 discount to you. The discount is available to you for 30 days from the date that you redeem the voucher with the provider.

How do I know which classes offer vouchers?

It's easy! All classes that offer vouchers for Dance Nut IntroTM classes display a bright green label or button saying "Free Intro" or "Free Class" or "Claim a Voucher" or something similar.

To see all the Dance Nut IntroTM classes, visit our event search page.

What are the rules for the vouchers?

IMPORTANT! Read the service provider's Special Requirements (shown when you click to claim a voucher) for possible modifications to the rules below.

Rules:
  • Each voucher is valid for you plus a guest unless otherwise noted (see Special Requirements).
  • Vouchers expire 30 days from the date that you claim them on the web site.
  • If your voucher expires unused you will need to pay a $5 fee before claiming more vouchers.
  • A voucher may be refused by a service provider if you took any class with them in the past year.
  • For private lessons you must contact the service provider to make an appointment.
  • For group classes you may be required to pre-register. (See Special Requirements)
  • By claiming a voucher you authorize us to share your name with the service provider.

Remember... Each voucher entitles you to a $10 discount towards the purchase of $50 or more worth of classes with the provider. And you can receive this discount from as many providers as you'd like! Each discount is available to you for 30 days from the date that you redeem the voucher with the provider.

Dance Nut covers the Boston area. What is "the Boston area"?

Our vision is to cover much of New England within a large radius of Boston. Yes, dancing in Boston is huge, but there are far more dance teachers, groups, studios, clubs, and other professionals and businesses outside the city of Boston than inside it.

Dancing has a presence in every community, and ultimately we want Dance Nut to serve your community, wherever that may be.

Is Dance Nut dance information always up to date?

Great question.  After all, the web is littered with dance sites loaded with out-of-date information. This is one of the reasons we decided to create Dance Nut!

Ultimately it is up to Dance Nut members (professionals and businesses) to keep their information up to date. However, we help by making it as easy as possible for them to add, delete, and modify their class and event listings.

Still, it's always in your best interest to double-check important information, especially event times, locations and fees. You can easily do so by contacting professionals and businesses through their profiles.

And if you ever find out-of-date information on Dance Nut, please let us know!.

What are the terms used on the Dance Nut site?

Here are our definitions for common terms used on our site.

  • Dance Professionals: Individuals or Groups (two or more individuals) that provide dance services such as teaching, performing, competing, or choreographing
  • Dance Businesses: Businesses that host dance activities and/or sell dance products
    • Studios: Primarily host dance classes
    • Clubs: Primarily host dance parties
    • Stores: Primarily sell or rent dance products
    • Photographers: Primarily sell dance photography and/or videography services

If there are other terms you would like us to define, please let us know!

What are "Related Profiles"?

This section of a member profile contains links to other profiles that this member is associated with. For instance, a dance troupe (a "Group") could be made up of many dancers ("Individuals") while also being part of a particular dance studio (a "Business").

We provide this information in order to give you a better sense of who these Professionals and Businesses are and how they fit into your dance community!
